A student on the front line teaches refugees how to turn boats and life jackets into bags.
To create an idea that solves a problem, you need to be where the problem is. This can’t be done in the comfort of your home or workshop. You need to be on the front line, just like Floor Nagler a Dutch textiles student.
When volunteering in Greece, helping out the refugees, Floor saw all of the discarded materials around. This turned into workshops on how to turn the discarded lifeboats and life jackets into much needed bags for the refugees to carry their belongings.
These bags are made using only 3 tools, all of which you can find in a stationary store: scissors, a hole punch and a rivet gun. Check out the video below for more on the project.
